January in Review

Hey all.

Please forgive my silence this term. A lot happened over the holidays and onward as the new term started. For the new year, I’ve decided to do some major self-improvement both artistically and mentally. I am in the process of reading five non fiction books (minimum, of course), and drawing for at least thirty minutes every day this year. Below are the drawings I have drawn in January. There are 26 drawings, but not bad, in my opinion.

More importantly, I’ve become engaged to my boyfriend of three years! He flew here to Europe to propose to me. The first image is a drawing of him inspecting my engagement after we had it refitted by a jeweler in Stuttgart, Germany.

If you wish to see my drawings as they appear daily, please follow me on Instagram. I update that far more often than my official blog here, I’m afraid.

30 Portraits 30 Day Challenge: Day 3

Hey all.

Haven’t had a chance to get the paint I need. I know I will not tomorrow because I have a long day of classes ahead of me tomorrow. So, I decided to draw a portrait instead.

This is Madonna from Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Madonna of the Rocks”. Like in the spirit of Da Vinci, whose sketchbooks are filled with the same drawings over and over of the same studies he did before even touching the canvas, I’m going to draw this portrait again tomorrow, and then paint it on Wednesday when I finally have my time and resources.
